One of my good friends--who incidentally is not a geographer--remarked to me once that a cup of coffee buys space.
I am acutely aware of that today as (after a quick search for coffee and wifi) I sit in a coffee shop adjacent to the train station. For a couple bucks I have bought myself a corner seat, complete with free wireless, a powerstrip (charge the phone, charge the netbook) and table space to spread my work on.
I have six hours to burn while I wait for my train. Ah coffee.
I have many more things to say on the subject of coffee and space, but perhaps that's for another time...
